Which decision of the Supreme Court of Migrant Hotels in Great Britain means
On Tuesday, the Epping Forest District Council received a temporary injunction to prevent migrants from being accommodated in the Bell Hotel. All migrants must now leave the hotel on September 12th at 4 p.m.
However, the judgment could have a greater impact on migrant hotels across the country.
Will all migrant hotels in Great Britain close now?
No – the injunction only applies to the Bell Hotel in Epping. Other hotels with contracts for asylum seekers can continue to do so. However, the victory of the Epping Forest District Council could cause other local authorities to submit similar legal applications.
Why are so many migrants housed in hotels?
In recent years, the use of “emergency” asylum accommodation has increased due to the limited availability of private apartments and hostels. In most cases, this consists of hotel rooms, which are procured by government contracts for the use of asylum seekers. A behind asylum case and increasing number of channel migrant crossings has contributed to the fact that a large number of asylum seekers have been accommodated in hotel accommodation in the past five years.

What is Yvette Cooper’s legal obligation to asylum seekers in accommodation?
The Interior Minister is obliged to support all middle -out asylum seekers accommodation and subsistence support while their claims are decided. These legal obligations are presented as part of the 1999 immigration and asylum law. The support according to § 95 of the law is intended for people who are waiting for a decision on their asylum claim or an appeal. The support of § 98 is provided, while the authorization of a person for § 95 asylum support is taken into account.
What will the government do next?
Lawyers represented by Ms. Cooper made a legal application at the last minute to intervene in the case before the judgment. However, Mr. Justice Eyre rejected the registration. Angela Eagle, the border security minister, said the government “carefully checked this judgment” and added: “Since this matter is still subject to ongoing legal proceedings, it would be inappropriately to comment on at this point.” However, lawyers from the Ministry of the Interior confirmed that they would try to appeal against the injunction.
The Bell Hotel in Epping, where migrants are housed
How many migrants are in the Bell Hotel?
The Bell Hotel has 80 rooms and currently offers up to 138 asylum seekers. After a hearing on Friday, Justice Eyre Somani Hotels Ltd ordered the housing to prevent new migrant residents, while the judgment was pending.
Which crimes are said to have been committed by Bell Hotel migrants?
Three residents are currently charged with criminal law. Hadush Gerbeslaisie Kebatu, 41, was arrested after he had supposedly sexually attacked a schoolgirl on July 7 after his arrival in Great Britain. The Ethiopian contested everything incorrectly when he was charged and appeared on July 17th at the Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court. Kebatus arrest triggered a number of protests in the hotel.
However, Mr. Justice Eyre’s verdict also referred to the arrests of two other residents. Last month, the 36 -year -old Rawand Abdulrih was charged with arson because he endangered his life in the hotel on April 5 in the hotel. In week he denied the indictment of sexually attacking a man aged over 16 by sexually touching him without consent.
What legal argument did the Council use to secure the injunction?
The Epping Forest District Council largely hung about the planning laws and the fact that Somani hotels had not been given permission to change the use of the hotel in accommodation for asylum seekers.
Is it a permanent injunction?
It is an injunction, which means that it is not permanently but temporarily granted before a complete hearing that is to take place in autumn. Lawyers from the hotel law firm and the interior minister confirmed in court that they wanted to appeal against the injunction. If complaints are filed quickly, the Court of Appeal can decide to give the residents a further stay before they are sold.
